Product Care
Hestia creations are crafted from exceptional and delicate material. In this dedicated section you will discover the advice from the Atelier on how to preserve their beauty.
Marquetry Tablemats & Coasters
Please use the utmost care in use and cleaning. Avoid standing water and cleaning liquids. Any exposure to a liquid should be wiped immediately. Do not immerse in water or put in the dishwasher.
Clean by using a dry cloth to gently remove dust and spills. Brush off any crumbs from the baize backing. This will keep the product fresh and prevent scratching to other table mats if stacked.
Marquetry mats should never come in contact with hot dishes, particularly straight from a warming drawer or oven.
Hestia pieces should ideally be stored flat when not in use.
As straw is a naturally soft substance, small dents and scratches may appear on its surface over time.
Printed Tablemats & Coasters
Please use the utmost care in use and cleaning of our products. The veneered surface of the printed mats and coasters are resistant to all reasonable fluids and food stains. Wipe clean with a damp cloth ONLY to gently remove dust and spills. Do NOT immerse in water or put in the dishwasher. Brush off any crumbs from the felt backing. This will keep the product fresh and prevent the scratching to other table mats when stacked.
These mats are not suitable for use as a cutting board as it will scratch the surface. Also, never place hot dishes on the mats, particularly straight from the oven.
It is important not to expose your pieces to water or high temperatures (such as hot dishes or prolonged sun exposure). Warping may occur if exposed to high temperatures or very humid conditions.
Please store mats flat and never on their sides, where the hand painted edges may be damaged.
Fine Linen Napkins
Hestia linens are made for everyday use. Our linens are machine washable and should be laundered regularly. We recommend the following care to retain their natural beauty.
Pre-treat any stained areas before washing. Using a mild detergent, place like colors together in the washer on the coolest water temperature setting. Do not use bleach or bleach alternatives, even if color-safe. Hestia does not recommend using liquid fabric softener.
Most damage occurs in the dryer, so we recommend line drying. If using the dryer, tumble dry on the lowest temperature setting and remove promptly. Do not use dryer sheets. Due to the nature of linen, do not over-dry as items may shrink.
Iron on the reverse side, while still slightly damp.
Store in a cool, dry, location that is protected from direct sunlight and never in plastic for a long period of time.
Hestia does not recommend dry cleaning for their linens as chemicals, and professional cleaning processes can damage the material and embroidery.
